3 Star ReviewGood Tool for the Travelling Man (or Woman)!
Strengths: Wireless network finder w/ indication of whether WEP is enabled, Picks up signals that you would otherwise not be able to use
Weaknesses: Too light to use w/ USB cable, Materials may break easily, Slightly expensive @ $60
Summary: Purchased the item @ Buy.com for roughly $58 after a 10% off coupon. The item is packaged quite well and the box reminds me of the packaging for an iPod. The unit itself is cool looking until you pick it up and realize it weighs almost nothing, which is nice for travelling but it moves alot if attached to the USB cable. It does pick up wireless networks that you wouldn't get with your normal wireless card. I have a Dell 700m which picks up alot but this little tool picked up a greater number of networks and it seems to get better connectivity in the range of 25% more. The included software leaves a little to be desired since it is quite simplistic but it gives more info than the device itself.

Strengths: very good reception
Weaknesses: build quality could have been better
Summary: This product was very easy to set up. Documentation was comprehensive and easy to understand. The reception was a vast improvement on both the inbuilt wi-fi and D-link laptop card i would highly recommend this product.

Strengths: Amps a weak wifi signal and feeds it to your computer when your laptop can't grab the signal on its own
Weaknesses: To find a signal you have to repeatedly push the locate button. However, when you plug it into your computer the utility window can fine-tune the whereabouts of the signal on the fly.
Summary: Handy way to find a signal on the fly. If there is a weak signal this will amplify it and pipe it to your lap or desktop. It will also let you know if the signal is secured or not. Unfortunately, there are some non-secured signals that have 'limited or no connectivity' so not all signals can be used and there is no way to know that until you try.

At any rate, I love this gadget. It allows me to tap into my neighbor's wifi two houses down from me. No kidding. My laptop, on its own can tell there is a signal, but it is not strong enough to use. This device will grab those weak signals and put them to work.
