Strengths: Easy set up, auto configures itself to DSL signal (Bellsouth). Works with ichat AV videoconferencing for Mac OSX out of box.
Weaknesses: None
Summary: Strongly recommend for Mac OSX users wanting to use iChat AV videoconferencing, works out of box with no needed port forwarding, port triggering, etc needed by other routers. Works great for Windows notebooks as well. Have 10 PCs, 4 macs hooked up no problems

Strengths: Strong signal. easy to use. good price.
Weaknesses: N/A
Summary: I bought this router for a few months, I used it in my house and it works great. There are 2 laptops and one desktop connected with this router and all of them can connect internet, there are few disconnections happen. Not find weakness by now.

1 Star ReviewTerrible product
Strengths: All in one product
Weaknesses: DSL Modem quirkiness Terrible support website
Summary: DSL Modem would never see the active DSL on my phone line, my ISP saw repeated connects followed by an immediate disconnect. The Netgear support site for the product offered no troubleshooting help for this situation other than to tell me to upgrade the FW. Product never was functional. Based on my experience with all other Netgear products other than the stand-alone network switching hubs I will never recommend a Netgear product to anyone.

Strengths: Very good feature set. Configuration set is abundant.
Weaknesses: I bought a refurb unit. After months of operation, the Wi-Fi became flaky. It appears to be a thermal issue. Works fine for awhile after a cold start.
Summary: I've turned off Wi-Fi on the unit, and now have 2 wireless routers coming off of its LAN ports. One router for Guests, and one for Trusted home users. The DG834G works great in its current configuration. Shields Up! (www.grc.com) indicates total stealth by the router. So, aside from its Wi-Fi issue, all other aspects function flawlessly.
