Strengths: Good size and design, Unique controls w/ Bluetooth, Slot Loading, SD Slot+Wireless included, Slot Loading Drive, Easy to Pickup and Play, Includes Game, Backwards compatibility with legacy HW Support
Weaknesses: No High Definition support, Last-Gen Graphics Hardware, Expensive Accessories and End Cost, Horrible Z-Axis Detection, Lacking USB Support, No HD Proprietary Vid Connector, Lacking Online Multiplayer.
Summary: The Nintendo Wii is a great console that moves gameplay in a whole nother direction. The controls allow for a new "standard" style of gameplay which allows for the simplification of control. Granted this is not the first gyro and sensor controller out in the market, but it is the first that's become standard on a console. The X and Y Axis control and Gyro function well. However the Z-Axis control detection (Forwards/Backwards and depth) all seem to have some serious issues. On average in games, about 70% of the control is solid. Either way the controls are easy to pickup and great for casual and new gamers to play around with.

The console is very well catered to minigames and has some solid first party support (Super Smash Bros, Mario, Zelda, etc.) However the 3rd party support has been only ok. Though it has produced some great games like Rayman Rabbids. However with a huge focus on the party setting, the Wii comes with a huge end cost. Each controller (Wiimote+Nunchuck) costs a whopping $60 each. That cost adds up quite quickly when you add in buying AA batteries for each one and component cables (since the port is proprietary). I wouldn't picture myself playing the Wii too often alone, but It really has been a blast with people over.

Wii sports does well enough as an included free game. however beyond the first play around, I've hardly ever returned to it to play. And I've definitely never felt like playing it alone. However it's a great showcase to show people what the Wii is all about. However, like many games on the Wii, There is no multiplayer support. And the first online multiplayer game for the Wii will be a pokemon game in March. That's awfuly sad considering the sucess online multiplayer has shown with the 360 and even with Resistance for the PS3.

The backwards support is a great feature for the few Gamecube games that were worth owning (like smash bros). The backwards compatible controller ports and memory card hardware are all there. Basically if you have a Wii, you can chuck that old gamecube away.

As far as hardware power goes, it's no Secret that the wii is lacking. However there is not even normal HD support which is quite upsetting. However there is at least 480p support (Progressive Scan) when you buy the component cables. However I don't like the idea of paying $250 for what is essentially a slightly faster gamecube with a new controller. There is a reason why Nintendo is making $40 off each piece of hardware sold. You would figure they'd give us a break on the accessories, but that's not the case. However the new controls are intriguing enough to be worth the initial price tag.

In the end my biggest concern is the longevity of the console. Over time there is a possibility for new unique and innovative games to come out for the Wii. however there is also a possibility for the Wii's control to end up as a overused gimmick. Either way the gamble has sure paid off for Nintendo and people are enjoying the console currently as seen by the demand. The Wii marks the revitalization of the mainstream console market for Nintendo.

Strengths: Lots of fun Interactive Invites physical exercise
Weaknesses: Not quite as responsive to player movements as hoped - especially in boxing - however I've never been a gamer before so how would I know...
Summary: A great reason to get together with friends and share some laughs - what could be more important than that?

It inspires physical activity unlike other game systems so I think that is great!

It's simply a lot of fun - even for a soon to be 50 year old woman - and my college kid is jealous! I love that part :)

Strengths: Games are fun to play, controller is indeed cool and not very hard to use
Weaknesses: Some games the controls can get complicated, no "HD" but you can pay $30 and get 480p through component
Summary: Games are really fun to play. It keeps you active, though you could be lazy and just flick your wrist. But all the sports games you can use the controller like a baseball bat, tennis racket.. Anything

Strengths: Works with your Game Cube Controlers and Memory. Uses a SD camera Ready Memory card, which are easy to get!
Weaknesses: None that I have found in 3 days of ownership
Summary: I am very please, as well as Pleasantly surprised at the ease of installation, as well as the easy use of the control, there have been no "learning" curves with me, and I am normally all butterfingers. I have found that the ease of use is great. To me it is MUCH easier to get use to then when I had to get use to the added Joy Stick on the older models of their time. I feel the price is well worth it!

Strengths: The Wii is fun and interactive rather than sitting on your but pressing buttons. It is awesome when you have more controllers and players. In addition, most of the games for it are extremely fun.
Weaknesses: It is not as much fun with out another player. Setting up the Wi-Fi takes a little bit of time.
Summary: Every one who is active and into some video games should get this console; you won't regret it! Don't get a bad first impression of the Wii from the game included (wii sports). All you need to do is get a game (like Zelda or ravin rabbids), another controller, and a friend. After this, you are ready for action! Because the Wii is in such a high customer demand, Get one if you happen to see it. you will not regret it.

Strengths: works great
Weaknesses: limits of current technology
Summary: This has to be the best gaming console that I have ever seen. I almost can't wait to see what the next generation product is going to look like. If this is anything to go by, cutting edge won't describe it accurately enough.

Strengths: Fun, easy to use (relatively), cheap, motion sensing is very innovative, non gamers want to have a go!
Weaknesses: games aren't very hardcore in most cases, sometimes motion sensing is gimmmecky.
Summary: I have one and love it, but if you get it I really do think you should get a ps3 or 360 as well as the wii doesnt really give a hardcore experience. But all in all it is a great console at a great price with a wide range of games! Well worth a purchase.

Strengths: Fun, very fun. Widescreen aspect ratio. 480p with component cables. backwards compatibility with Gamecube
Weaknesses: Graphics - I don't think any games out yet tap its full potential, but the hardware specs are lower. In ways this is a plus as game designers must now focus on gameplay - the reason I bought it!
Summary: Had to jump through some hoops to get one but boy was it worth it. Had the same giddy feeling as when we hooked up the oringal nintendo and took turns playing super mario. It's a lot of fun and twilight princess is by far the best game I have ever owned. Wii remote & nunchuck become intuitive very fast. The shield biff with the nunchuck is my favorite.

Strengths: Great family fun. Hard to put down
Weaknesses: Graphics are weak and the games so far arent too impressive.
Summary: Overall, the Nintendo Wii is a good system for the whole family. Graphics could be better but the fun factor makes up for it. I wouldnt recommend this to be your only console but as all other consoles are so expensive, this is a great buy while you wait for other consoles to come down in price. If you want to experience something totally new, this is it.

Strengths: Unique gameplay design, next generation gaming, fun filled hours, game included
Weaknesses: non hd gameplay, and old gaming graphics
Summary: This was rated high on my christmas list and i'm very glad to have it now and be able to play. I had the ps3 and have been waiting for a good solid game to come out but with no luck, after i got the wii, that's all that i've been playing, and i've been playing the free game whcih comes with it. I think that the funfactor in this little machine is amazing, especially with friends. Believe the hype, this system will change your mind or standard controllers
