Strengths: Works well, haven't lost a connection yet.
Weaknesses: 6 feet of cable may not be enough.
Summary: While playing Mario Strikers online over the wireless connection, we would constantly get lag or even get disconnected. When I found this, it sounded like a good solution to our problem. I was pleased to see that it came with a 6 foot cable. Unfortunetely 6 feet wasn't quite enough for our set up because the computer was further away. That problem was easily solved by using a longer cable which we luckily had.

It was easy to set up- just plug it in and you're good to go. Since buying the adapter, the game hasn't been disconnected once. There's still an occasional lag every once in a while but I'm fairly certain that it's the users on the other end of the connection as 95% of the time everything runs smoothly.

Overall, I think that this was a worthwhile purchase. The frustration of getting booted from a game right before making a winning goal is long gone. I can't think of a single complaint I could have about it.

Strengths: Allows you to eliminate the wireless connection as a bottleneck; included ethernet cable is a plus
Weaknesses: none found so far... luckily my router is close to the Wii, so a longer cable is not necessary
Summary: I know I have a decent broadband connection, so I was getting frustrated when I was unable to stream any videos off of the Nintendo channel without the video buffering every 30 seconds.. I wasn't sure if the problem was the wireless connection or the WEP security, but either way it was frustrating... wiring the Wii directly to the router with this adapter eliminated the need for either.

Strengths: Great! Worked right out of the box.
Weaknesses: Looks cheap (uses a host name of wii)
Summary: 2008-01-09 13:30:09 This was a Great purchase as I can now disable my wireless on my router. I do not like wireless, due to lack of real security. I have been able to hack my wireless with not much effort. Now I am a Computer Professional and know the tools needed, but so do the bad people. So this was a great purchase and worked right out of the box. Now just to warn you. Make certain that the Wii is off when you plug this in so it will activate it upon power on. This was clearly stated in the instructions.

Strengths: No more dropped connections or lag
Weaknesses: A little bulky
Summary: I was having all kinds of issues with my Wii connection, even just adding a friend's code would time out on me. Browsing the Wii Shop was painful and frustrating. With the Datel LAN adapter plugged into the switch I already had in my entertainment center, everything works perfectly. I can recommend this adapter without any reservations at all.
