Strengths: VERY Fast - great value for the money. Very strong at multi-tasking.
Weaknesses: Few applications utilize all four cores.
Summary: The Q6600 is an AWESOME processor and a great value for the money. If you were considering a 2.4 Dual Core, don't bother... with the recent price drop the Q6600 quad core is only about $50.00 more expensive, and has much more potential with future applications I bought the Q6600 for my new gaming rig, and I've been very impressed with the performance. I've been especially happy with its ability to multi-task... I can run TONS of windows/applications without a dip in performance. The processor will run slightly warmer than the equivalent dual core, so make sure you are utilizing a good heat-sink (the one included with the CPU is useless). Being that the quad core is slightly larger than the dual core some CPU fans may have trouble fitting with mother board... be sure that you buy a fan that actually screws into the MB (it will make your life much easier).

Strengths: Quad-core power!!! G0 stepping runs very cool. Cores remain stable even under load. Good performance for the price.
Weaknesses: G0 stepping not guaranteed from some retailers. Penryn CPUs may offer better value when released next month.
Summary: There's not too much left to say about this processor. It's fast, stable, and a great value for the price. The only real caveat is that the new G0 stepping cannot be guaranteed from some online resellers.

Strengths: 1) 4 cores 2) Price 3) G0 Steppings have somewhat less power consumption than their predecessors
Weaknesses: 1) Still expensive compared to other Intel offerings 2) Not everyone can use the 4 cores
Summary: This is a wonderful processor for those who are looking for some serious power. Most games will take advantage of only 2 of the 4 cores, so the only places the quad core processor will give more are in OSs and apps written to take advantage of 4 cores. My main use for quad-core power is video encoding, which gets a great boost from the two extra cores. Future games and applications will definitely use more cores, so this should be a good investment. I recommend it!

Strengths: Extremely quick
Excellent for multi tasks as advertised.
Cheap price now as I posted.
Weaknesses: Can't find anything, yet.
Summary: All I can say is WOW!
This is the first multiple cores system I build after a long time. I have had only single core from both AMD and INTEL. My AMD is 2500XP and INTEL is 2.4GHZ. I just got this combo when Fry's just opened this morning and just finished WinXP Pro installation. It's amazing fast, even with installation is so quick. Just tried 2 aps Photoshop and Corel working at the same time and can't feel any slow down on performance. That's all I can said for now, will try to upgrade to 4G ram later, find a decent PCI Express video card and will put Vista Ultimate to unleash this bad boy.

Strengths: Fantastic value for a quad-core; 3-year warranty; stock fan should work for non-overclocked
Weaknesses: Limited motherboard support
Summary: I upgraded from an Intel Core2 Duo E6600 CPU once the recent price-drops kicked in. What an unbelievable price for a quad-core CPU!! Bravo, Intel, on making quad core CPU available to the masses at under $300 (pretty much a 50% price cut). While I obviously don't notice any performance differences for web-surfing, email, etc. I do notice a difference while using both Adobe Photoshop Elements & Premiere Elements. They open quicker, and the tool responds to my commands quicker. I'm not a gamer, so can't comment on that. I use the stock CPU heatsink/fan, and have not had any issues. I'm not over-clocking, so the stock cooler is fine. The only problem I had was in performing the upgrade. I mistakenly believed my motherboard supported the Q6600, as it already supported the E6600. So, after replacing the CPU, my computer wouldn't boot! Doh! I read up on some forums and realized I should have upgraded the motherboard BIOS. I had to replace the CPU with my old E6600 (good thing I didn't sell it already!), update the BIOS, then put the Q6600 back in. It worked!

Strengths: 4 Processors... so multi tasking is easy, it works faster then you can depending on what you are multitasking
Weaknesses: Heats up, so you would need something better then what it comes with for cooling if you plan on OCing
Summary: I like it, I didn't OC it since I don't really need to. Try to get the processor with G0 stepping since it takes less energy and heats up less than the one I got. Overall I love it, works well with Vista premium and XP.

Strengths: Definitely a great buy. All the power for a cheap price. Future proof

Summary: I paired my q6600 with an asus p5kc and 2 gigs of high speed ram and the 8800 gtx! Some advice, I also bought an asus arctic silent square heatsink, and I have not seen the temperature pass 42 degrees

Strengths: Performs very will in applications that are multi-threaded.
Weaknesses: Runs significantly hotter than Dual-Core CPUs
Summary: Purchased this CPU in a motherboard combo from Fry's for a total price of $299.
On an ASUS P5W-DH Deluxe motherboard I was able to obtain a 3.1GHz STABLE overclock (3.3GHz would boot, but was not stable). This is with a SL9UM stepping processor. In approximately 2 months, SLACR stepping chips should be out and preliminary results indicate they will overclock well.
At the current price of ~$275, this CPU is a good buy for the performance you get.

Strengths: Really fast...I mean, really, really fast
Weaknesses: Old stepping (B3) consumes up to 120 watts under load; not a "true" quad core CPU as it is really two e6600s electrically bonded; Vista is still too slow with this CPU installed!
Summary: If you need computational speed above all else, this CPU should definitely be at the top of your list. After the recent price cuts, OEM version can commonly be had for around $250 -- that's what we were paying for AMD64 and P4 CPUs not so long ago!

Also, try to get the newer G0 stepping as it consumes a maximum of 95 watts under load -- that savings can add up if you leave your PC on 24/7!

Even with this CPU, 2 GB of DDR2-1066 RAM and a 3-drive RAID0 SATA strip, Vista still runs slow! LOL... :D

All of the Q6600s I've had (B3 stepping) have had no problem hitting 3.0GHz at stock voltage. This is insanely fast processing power, but keep in mind that you will need components to keep up with what it can do. A single hard drive probably won't be able to feed data to the Q6600 fast enough! :)

Strengths: fast, easy to install and works with win XP home
Weaknesses: price - but this is the latest and greatest
Summary: This thing is so fast it’s hard to measure. I will benchmark later.
The nice thing is this is somewhat future proof. A year or two from now this will make a great file server CPU. Many games and applications already use multi cores so this quad core just makes it better. This is the best you can get right now. If your building your own PC, skip the dual core and go quad.

Strengths: This cpu runs extremely cool when overclocked WITHOUT a "TWO POUNDER" cooler hanging on your cpu.
Weaknesses: None technically. Now we need new apps taking advantage of the four cpu power this chip has. We need a user selectable dedication of each cpu to a defined task.
Summary: Running stock Intel cooler staying within adjustable limits and hiting 3600mhz operational stable speed. Cools at 37C idle, 51C max normal load, 61C stress load. Use a good cooling case like the Smilodon.

Strengths: Overclocks, fast
Weaknesses: Stock hsf
Summary: I patiently or i should say impatiently waited for the price drop, then I paired the Q6600 (G0) with the P-35 DS3R motherboard and so far so good. Recommend the newer G0; SLACR stepping as the TPF is 95watts instead of 105 watts in the B3, SL9UM stepping. Now you can multi-task to your heart's content. Great performance.

Strengths: Very quick processor

Summary: This is one quick processor. People have often said that this processor wasn't quick, and that just isn't true. I believe that people thought it should be even faster since they paid so much money for it. Well, prices are dropping and the price that I paid for this was more than worth it. To be sure to make the most of this processor make sure applications are multi-threaded. Most graphics and video editing applications and most of the newer games would have no problem taking advantage of the extra cores on this thing. Hey, this thing even makes Vista run fast.

Strengths: Unbelievably fast, and sooooo overclockable! I have it going at over 3 Ghz with no sweat on a Gigabyte P965-Dq6!
Weaknesses: NONE whatsoever!
Summary: If you really want to see your machine sing, but do not want to spend the money on the top of the line Quad Core 2 Duo, buy this one, and just overclock it! you will be just as happy-with money to spare!

Strengths: 4 cores of powerful computing power for your MS Vista operating System....and for the price, it's only a little more than the price of two chips of the dual cores!
Weaknesses: Not an octal-core! ;-)
Summary: If I had to choose between my Core2Duo system, and this one now built with a quad chip, I would hands down want to use the quad-core computer. it does my video-editing so fast you would think my old p4 cpu was ten years old-or just really darned tired!
anyway-I am tired of my dual-P4 system, this new quad-core chip rocks!
