Strengths: Everything! This is the exact same Nintendo built controller found without the usual cord. This controller is not built any differently, the buttons are spaced the same and all.
Weaknesses: Batteries. But Ive only had to change my AA's once and I play constantly.
Summary: This bird is a wireless controller for the GC. It runs off of radio waves and thereby a "connection" is not needed. This implies that unlike the older wireless controllers, pointing the wavebird toward the console receive is unnecessary, and things passing in front of the receiver will not interupt the connection. In fact, you can literally take your bird outside or to another floor in your house and it will continue to work, though you wont be able to see your TV.

16 different channels to chose from, so that radio interference isn't a problem.

Strengths: it requires no "connection". how cool is that? people can write terribly worded reviews of it and still get them published.
Weaknesses: sjgStevo owns one. maybe. he reviewed "legend of zelda: the wind waker" without actually owning it. REviews, sjgStevo, not PREviews. this "implies" that you are a nonce. piss off.
Summary: if you know sjgStevo, kill him. or at least cut off his hands, so that the world may be saved of his incomprehensible musings. buy a wavebird.

Strengths: Battery life, compatible with the Wii, Good range
Weaknesses: If any, then no rumble
Summary: If you're in the market for wireless gamecube controllers, then this is it. If you're looking for wireless controllers for Super Smash Bros. Brawl, then this is it as well. These are top quality products as you would expect from Nintendo. I highly recommend these.

Strengths: 16-channel wireless selection, great battery life
Weaknesses: No vibration features, a bit heavier than the wired controller
Summary: Nintendo's Wavebird controller is their wireless controller for the Gamecube. It's a very good controller, with the same controller feel as the wired controller, though it's a bit heavier than the wired counterpart. It can operate on sixteen different channels, and it's easily selectable through a dial on the receiver as well as the controller. To add in the wireless features, they removed the vibration feature, though it's hardly missed. Batteries seems to last a very long time in the controller, easily 40 hours or more.

Strengths: Great signal, just like the wired controller
Weaknesses: No rumble
Summary: After using the Wavebird, I don't think I can go back to a wired controller. The simple lack of a cord has changed my life. No more flipping the controller to move the cable around some obstruction on the floor or table. As long as you don't forget to switch off the controller, the battery life is incredible as well.

Strengths: Durable, well designed controller that is wireless. Extremely convenient. Possibly the best controller ever.
Weaknesses: Sometimes experienced problems using multiple Wavebirds simultaneously. No rumble function either.
Summary: Ah, the Wavebird, what an absolute great product brought to masses by none other than Nintendo. Virtually, every gamer out there has longed for a reliable wireless controller for their consoles and until recently never had their wish granted. Fortunately, the Big N took the time to perfect and deliver this great product. It has a comfortable ergonomic design. The battery life is ridiculously good (in my case a set of batteries usually lasts between 50 and 100 hours). It has great range - works up to about 30 feet with great responsiveness. It also has 16 different channels/frequencies to make use of. This enables use of multiple Wavebirds at once. It even comes in two colors - gray and platinum! There really is no good excuse not to own one (or more) of these if you have a Gamecube. Excellent product overall.

Strengths: Best controller ever, and definitly the best wireless one.
Weaknesses: None, this baby is perfect (no rumble, but that doesn't really bother me)
Summary: Oh, I really can't say enough about how good this controller is. The Wavebird is wireless perfection. The box says it's good for up to 20 feet away, but fails to mention that it has been known to work across football fields, and I personally find it cool that it also works through walls and floors! You don't even need to be in the same room as the tv to play. Buy it, nuff said.

Strengths: Wireless, excellent range
Weaknesses: Batteries required, no rumble feature
Summary: The wavebird is an excellent wireless controller for the Nintendo Game Cube. The wavebird and receiver can be set to 16 different settings, so there should be no interference problems. Range is also not an issue -- the instructions and packaging say 20 feet, and I have never had a problem within that distance. The controller does operate on two AA batteries, but the battery life is very good as long as you remember to shut the controller off when it is not in use. There is no rumble feature, which can be a draw back depending on which games you are playing. As far as I'm concerned, though, the lack of the rumble feature is far outweighed by the simple fact that I'm no longer tethered to the Game Cube system. I've been using a wavebird for over a year, and have just purchased another. I would definitely recommend this product to all GC owners.

Strengths: The best wireless controller on the market, responsive, long range, long battery life.
Weaknesses: No rumble, no auto shut-off.
Summary: I had my doubts at first about whether or not the Wavebird was as good as advertised but it in the time I have used the controller, it has more then surpassed my expectations. First off, the controller is identical to the regular corded Gamecube controller (except for the battery compartment and slightly heavier) so there's no uneasy transition to a different layout. Second, the battery life is outstanding on this controller. I've only had to replace the batteries once a year. Third, you can play from nearly anywhere and angle since it runs on radio frequency. Fourth and perhaps most importantly, the controls are responsive and there never has been any lag. The only negatives are minor. There is no rumble (which probably explains the long battery life) and some games benefit from the use of vibration (like in Zelda, you can find hidden treasures). The other negative is that the controllers do not shut off automatically after inactivity. There is a on and off switch located on the controller; however, if you forget to switch it to the off position you could accidentally drain your batteries. Most other wireless controllers have this feature (auto shut off) but it's not on the Wavebird; but I guess the flip side is that other controllers don't have an on/off switch. The bottom line is this is the best controller (wireless or non-wireless) you can find on the Gamecube.

Strengths: Long battery life. Light weight.
Weaknesses: No rumble feature.
Summary: The Nintendo Wavebird is the only 1st party wireless controller on the market. It is the exact same design as the standard controller except that it is wireless and does not support the rumble feedback feature. The Wavebird is powered by 2 AA batteries which last for a long time. The wireless connection is excellent even from across the room. When it comes to hardware, Nintendo makes quality products. The Wavebird is no exception. A+

Strengths: wireless, reliable, good controls
Weaknesses: uses 2 AA batteries, no rumble
Summary: The Wavebird controller is perfect for anyone who hates having corded controllers. You select the channel you want on the receiver and the controller and the console will pickup the signal from the Wavebird. The gameplay never gets interrupted. Only problems is that there's no rumble support and it uses batteries, so eventually you'll have to switch them out every now and then. The good side is that you dont have to replace the batteries so often since you can get about 80 hours of gameplay per fresh batteries. I recommend the Wavebird to everyone. Wireless will be the norm starting next generation, and the Wavebird controller will be usable on the next Nintendo console (Nintendo Revolution).

Strengths: wireless
Weaknesses: lack of rumble
Summary: this is a great controller. Just imagine the normal cube controller but without wires. It functions perfectly fine and works as good as normal controllers. I love the wireless functionality. The controller works for a good 25ft. I have had it for 3 months and only had to switch batteries 3 times, so it has a great battery life. If you need a cube controller, pick up the wavebird.

Strengths: No more cords, Responsive, Long battery life
Weaknesses: No Rumble feature on the WaveBird
Summary: The WaveBird just may be the best wireless controller ever made. I am the kind of gamer that usually sticks with first party controllers (not always but usually) So with the WaveBird you basically have a controller which is basically a first party Nintendo controller which is wireless. The WaveBird takes 2 double AA batteries and also comes with a pair of them when you buy one. The battery life seemed good to me but I don't have any other wireless controllers to compare that to but don't expect to be going out and getting new batteries for your WaveBird for a month or more. Another feature which is nice is that you can change the frequency on your WaveBird and it's receiver which is to be used if you are using multiple WaveBirds so that they don't interfere with each other, it's also good to keep each controller at least 2 channels apart from each other. I would highly recommend the WaveBird to anyone that wants a wireless controller for the GameCube as it works great and I've never noticed any kind of lag in the responsiveness as compared to a controller with a chord.

Strengths: This controller is awesome, only two drawbacks, everything else is great.
Weaknesses: Batteries and no rumble feature
Summary: Finally, a first party controller has been released that has wireless functionality. Nintendo has led the way with innovative accessories, but this is one that I actually have a use for. The controller has the feel of a regular gamecube controller – albeit bigger – and it has been advertised to work up to 20 feet, which is plenty of room, although other sites claim it can range much farther than that. It even works through walls (and yes, I have verified this). It also does so without lag or disorientating itself from the system.

The controller package contains the controller and a wireless receiver that plugs into one of the gamecube controller slots. It has up to 16 channels (you have to switch them manually) so that interference between controllers is not an issue.

The main drawback is that it uses batteries. It takes 2 AA batteries to power the controller but they do last a long time, approx. 100 hours. I was hoping they would have a rechargeable battery method, like the Gameboy Advance SP System. Also, the controller does not include a rumble feature.

Strengths: - Very good response - Great range - Comfortable to use - Good battery life
Weaknesses: - Somewhat bulky
Summary: 2008-01-03 12:46:42 This is a great wireless controller. The response is great. I haven't been able to notice any delay in response when compared to a wired controller. The range is also excellent. It is bulkier than the wired controller, but the crucial dimensions (e.g., spacing between buttons, etc.) are identifical to the wired counterpart. Thus, playing with this controller is very comfortable. This is, by far, the best wireless controller I've ever tried. In fact, this is the best wireless device of any kind I've ever used. Period. Because this is so good, I exclusively buy games for GameCube.
