Strengths: Makes shredding & slicing things a breeze.
Weaknesses: Hope the plastic hold up.
Summary: This is now our third SaladShooter after having owned the original and the "SaladShooter Mixer Too" (A SaladShooter with holes for blender beaters on the back side). The power seems to be improved and there is a larger chute size, (you don't have to cut potatos as small anymore making potato pancakes yum). Powers through mozzerla cheese, like crackers into crumbs. True it doesn't have the mixer option of our last one, (saved appliance space), but for slicing and shredding it is one of the best. Plus it is portable so you can deposit your relults right onto your creation, (pizza, salad, soup, etc.) and there is no containter to clean. The slicing cone and chute are removed and placed in the dishwasher and your done.

I only hope the plastic lasts a little longer than our last one (~7 years) as it started to break off small tabs of plastic where the pieces locked together. We're still are using the last one as a blender. The motor never had a problem and is still going strong.

Strengths: Shreds cheese like magic
Weaknesses: Noicy
Summary: I tried so many before I stumbled on this one and we hit the jackpot.

I was so delighted that I offered one to each of my children.

We use it primarily for shredding cheese. The shredding cone could be stronger though. We destroyed 2 in the 10 years we've been using it. This is understandable since cheese causes a lot of friction.

So, if you intend to use it for cheese, you might think of buying a spare cone up front.

Strengths: It's quick to slice and shred. 1-2-3 and it's done. Perfect slices and the same thickness which makes everything cook evenly.
Weaknesses: Noisy and awkward in handling
Summary: I think overall this is one of the best products for slicing that I have used. I only wish it weren't so loud and maybe a bit smaller. Just because it's professional doesn't mean it has to be so big. I still give it 4 stars. It looks very durable. this makes a great gift too.

Strengths: durable, quick and easy to operate, a little big but still great
Weaknesses: cleaning the machine it's self is a little time consuming
Summary: 2007-01-08 09:14:10 I think that this is a perfect way to slices and shredd. You won't be disapointed. This is a thumbs up gift. I don't ever want to do without one. I love it.

3 Star ReviewFor shredding cheese or chopping nuts, this machin ...
Strengths: Very fast, easy to assemble, easy to clean, versatile
Weaknesses: Very noisy, a little awkward to use, kind of messy with vegetable shredding
Summary: For shredding cheese or chopping nuts, this machine is great. That's what I wanted it for, and it does that better than anything else I've tried. It's much better than a food processor for small amounts, and it cleans up easily and quickly.

For slicing veggies I was less impressed. There's a lot more waste than with a knife. Also, I like my veggies chunky, and even the thicker slicer cuts them too thin for my tastes. The ripple cutter would be good for making chips, though.

It's also a bit awkward to use, though my technique might improve over time. It takes two hands--one to hold the unit and one to press the food pusher down--and so it's hard to also hold the bowl or pan you're aiming at.

It's very loud. And the harder you push on the pusher (to move food down or to get thicker slices), the louder it whines. I use ear plugs when I'm running it.

But I'm still very happy with it for my needs.
