Strengths: Large display size, 3ms response time, lots of video inputs.
Weaknesses: No height adjustment, does not swivel, no card reader.
Summary: I bought this monitor online based on price and the positive reviews I had read about it. Having upgraded from a 22" widescreeen monitor, I wasn't quite expecting such an incredible change in my viewing experience. After connecting the monitor to my pc with the included 6' DVI-HDMI cable and booting up, the gorgeous 1920x1200 resolution of the desktop floored me. I soon tinkered with the display settings and the physical positioning of the monitor. I realized it doesn't swivel, you have to rotate the entire monitor. There is no height adjustment, either, which is following a trend among very large LCD monitors (and tv's).

The monitor has several video inputs... HDMI, VGA, Component, S-Video, and Composite. There is no DVI input, but the included DVI-HDMI cable makes this a moot point. There are no side connectors, so any connection has to be made on the lower back of the monitor.

There are speakers on this monitor, but I have no use for them and have not heard them. I do miss the convenience of a built-in card reader (like my last monitor) and will have to go back to using a USB card reader and pluggin that into my pc. Nevertheless, this Viewsonic is a great value, and I am definitely happy with this purchase.

Strengths: HUGE!!! Clear. Just a great large monitor
Weaknesses: Viewing angle isnt perfect. I tilted mine down and fussed with the colors and it looks pretty good.
Summary: So yeah, i love this monitor. I am so impressed by its size and price. Where can you find a 28" monitor for under a grand? Apple's 30 is about 2k. This is just a great option for someone who wants a great large monitor. It definitely challenges your graphics like no other. Oblivion on max is not totally smooth with a 7900gs.

Strengths: Oh! My goodness! It's beautifully huge!
Weaknesses: The best resolution has to be set at 1920x1200...
Summary: I never though that I can purchase this size monitor for under $700. Not only it is low cost, but also it's high definition and Viewsonic brand name. I bought it at NewEgg.com for $669.99 plus $22.49 S/H, and there is a $50 rebate through Viewsonic plus $10 reward from PriceGrabber.com. Money wise, it's totally worth! This Viewsonic VX2835wm HD LCD monitor is bright and crisp. It also come with HDMI, S-video, component and D-sub connectors. To sum up, it is the best monitor I ever had. Strongly recommend!

Strengths: Very nice monitor for the price.
Weaknesses: The stand is not adjustable.
Summary: So far I am very happy with this monitor. I love how large it is. It seems to be a great monitor for a great price, I bought it at compusa for $679.00 with $50.00 instant rebate my total was $629.00 plus free cannon printer. It was a great deal. The only thing that I don't like is that the stand is not adjustable. It would be better if I could lower it some.

Strengths: Size, price, speed
Weaknesses: None so far
Summary: Had a little trouble getting a picture on the screen for the first 15 minutes. The instructions are terrible as expected but after pressing a couple of the buttons on the front of the monitor I was up and running. My connection was from DVI to HDMI (cord included). Maybe it defaults to a regular connection but when I pressed #2 on the monitor & toggled down to HDMI, I finally got a picture. Second thing was the picture was a little too bright for surfing. Pressing the up button on the monitor and selecting Text fixed this problem and it was perfect. If I watch a movie, I'll switch over to the cinema mode.

Strengths: Price. Terrific size. Reputable brand. Did I say anything about size?
Weaknesses: none so far. Integrated speakers are just okay.
Summary: Just got this at work for the conference room. I work at an ad agency and we're always referencing websites, but the display we had made it difficult to read anything. In comes this guy. Still, small type is hard to read, but use the zoom keyboard short cut (Mac) and you can zoom a standard 600x800 web page to gigantic and all eight of us can read everything fine from eight feet away!

I'm getting one to replace my 17-inch Apple display at home. Good thing I have a big desk!

Strengths: Huge, 16:10 aspect ratio, Very Bright, Gorgeous Color, Very Fast Pixels, & PRICE! Oh, did I mention Price? Incredible value for your money.
Weaknesses: None worth mentioning.
Summary: WOW! This monitor is simply AWESOME! Got mine yesterday (07-18-07)and I was simply floored ..... IT IS HUGE & SIMPLY BEAUTIFUL! The screen is absolutely gorgeous and very bright. The colors are vibrant, no ghosting at all, and a through test with montest showed no defects or unnoticeable problems. NO DEAD PIXELS. This is my second ViewSonic LCD ... the 1st a 19" VP912b was great, but this VX2835WM simply blows it away. I could not be happier with my choice .... I almost settled for a 22" wide screen - am thrilled now I didn't. Lord of the Rings OnLine looks fantastic .... you need a high end graphics card to run it at 1920 x 1200 with all the enhancements turned to high or very high so be forewarned! I have a 7900 GS now but will be upgrading to a 8800 GTX SOON.You really do need the high end graphics to run this puppy.

Maybe TOO big for some, but not for me .... Wife gave me a lot of grief until she sat down in front of it.

ViewSonic hit a home run with this LCD. The price is great ..... shop around, lots of etailers selling them are out of stock.

Strengths: If you have room for it, the large screen can't be beat. The resolution is great. The price was outstanding for what you get.
Weaknesses: None noted
Summary: I've owned this monitor for about 2 months and it has been trouble-free.

It is very large and many people have commented that it's too big but I love it. I can have multiple applications open at the same time and can still read them.

Strengths: Huge! Very clear and bright.
Weaknesses: Customer service and Mac support.
Summary: I agree with the first 2 reviewers that this is an amazing monitor for the price, so everything they said. However I am disappointed with the support. I'm not going to go into detail because it would take me an hour to write all my frustrations. In short, very pathetic.

3 Star Reviewviewsonic 28'' babe
Strengths: large, bright, fast response, nice color
Weaknesses: awful viewing angle
Summary: I'm somewhat satisfied. But...

Except the center angle, it shows weird color/brightness.

I guess, backlit is not perfect.

And I have two bright dead-pixels. They are shiny when the screen is supposed to be black.

2 Star ReviewSize isn't everything
Strengths: HUGE, Pretty cool if you have a PS3/XBOX/whatnot. Great versatility (HDMI, DVI, Composite, etc.)
Weaknesses: HORRIBLE viewing angle. Can't rotate, tilt up-down. Exact same color looks 2 shades darker on top of the screen than on the bottom.
Summary: Pretty much said it all in the Strength/Weakness department.

If you're playing PS3/XBox from a distance and facing the center of the screen, great! You get a huge monitor with great value.

If you're like me and do graphic design, FORGET ABOUT IT! WALK AWAY! I was too excited to have a 28" monitor that I didn't do my homework/research. I constantly have to drag my canvas in Photoshop/Illustrator from viewsonic to my 20" dell to check the correct color/brightness. It gets very annoying. I'm gonna be replacing this monitor with a smaller Dell or Samsung ASAP.

2 Star ReviewNothing but Viewsonic since 1996!
Strengths: Can't go wrong with Viewsonic.
Weaknesses: The power button(s) on the front are really flimsy. Don't expect them to last the life of the monitor.
Summary: I have the VX2035wm. Same hardware. Need pointy fingers to push the 'ON' (or '1' or '2') buttons. Had it a year or so now and the buttons are getting deeper in their holes.

Checked out a display model at the local electronics warehouse. The buttons were completely trashed.

Nothing against Viewsonic... I have a VG500b, VG2030m, Q20wb, VX2000 and the VX2035 and we have 15 or 20 more around the office.

They just missed the boat on the design of the buttons on the VX.
