Large and corporate. Fine if you want cheap things, but god help you if anything goes wrong and you need to use their customer service. Returns are a nightmare, and they've now quietly changed consumer accounts with any business details to business accounts, and subject then to harsh terms such as 28 days warranty, which is specifically excluding legally given rights. Nice.. |

I use Ebuyer frequently and they are superb. Deliveries are always as shown, if not faster. The site is easy to use and informative. Prices are rarely bettered and then only by small margins. The rare returns are handled efficiently. Getting through on the telephone can be a pain, but as 99% of things are dealt with through web access that is only a small quibble. |

Very good service, including returns service. Would be nice if they sent you a postage paid returns bag for any future returned items. |

Ordered on 19th Jan 09. One month later goods have not arrived. 6 enotes & 3 calls to customer service, and still no joy. Now having to go through charge back procedure with credit card company. Customer service is non existent. Will never deal with them again. |

This company are fine when everything goes well. However, when there is a problem I find their customer service unacceptably poor. I believe their terms and conditions are outside English law in relation to items that fail outside of the one month period of time listed in their terms and conditions. My understanding is that as retailer they are still legally responsible to accept a return or to provide a refund. In my case they were not prepared to accept a manufacturers refund note after the manufacturer had attempted to repair the item twice under guarantee and then issued a note ensuring eBuyer would be refunded. eBuyer claimed that the administrative costs involved prevented them honouring this. I am disappointed that the technical person I was passed on to on the phone found it appropriate to be verbally aggressive with me. I feel let down and very disappointed by the service I have received by this company on this occasion, I would be very surprised if I risk using them again. |

Oh my days! Never have I ever heard of an internet based seller asking for passport and drivers licence copies to be sent to them before ALLOWING you to buy from them! I used a credit card to pay along with mastercard additional verification registered to my home address. Yet eBuyer want the most significant pieces of information that are required for identity theft? No chance. Whoever sets policy here is not in touch with reality. Total bunch of jokers who will be bankrupt very soon so dont risk your money with them! Any good reviews on this website must be false as I cannot see how anybody can buy from them. Have tried to reason with them as the product I want to buy is far cheaper with them. Will soon be out of stock and my order will not be processed as I am not willing to give them my passport info! |

personally i have ordered from ebuyer more that 10 time and so has my friend and his family all order from e buyer.com for all there computing needs and me and my firends and a few people i know at college have never had any problems with ebuyer.com and these people have been doing it for years I do think it is a little silly that they would need a photo copy of my pass port but i have ordered from there so many times that i have already Technically trusted them with my credit card details address etc so to be honest whats a photo copy of a passport and i think people are more inclined to complain rather than complement so the bad reviews here are most probably 0.001% of what e buyer are like because like i said i know so many people that use e buyer and have done so for so long its quite hard to believe that people ever have had trouble with it but every one makes mistakes |

The sort function was less than spectacular usually refusing to remove the most popular items from the top of the list. Some items appeared on two pages but with the same price which is plain confusing. Item descriptions were eroneous in one case (see reviews of aleged DVI TFT screen) and unclear in another (DVI was listed as optional but no details of how to include the option or at what price. |

(Edited September 24th by jellywobble) I've never been prompted to write a review before, but then I've never been asked to fax my passport to a shop, simply to buy something from them! Quite unacceptable! In a bid to stop online fraud, Ebuyer suggest I fax my passport to them!! Of course they say they will destroy it, but what guarantee is there of that. Anyone could make a copy. After several phone calls, and Enotes to the site it seems that they will not budge. so it seems like this will be one less customer for them to worry about. I expect there will be a trend of formally-happy customers, who will not agree with their new security measures |

Ordered PC memory on 24/7/08 which proved to be faulty and raised RMA request. Ebuyer wanted me to call a 0870 number to discuss this. I raised an enote stating that I did not want to have to pay for a call when the item was faulty. Waited a week and eventually ebuyer accepted my RMA request. I asked for a direct replacement part. I asked because their stock was getting low to reserve the part for me. I got no response and they ran out of stock. I then received an email saying that they would be getting some more memory back soon and I got an email saying that they had placed an order of a direct replacement. I then got another email saying the order had been cancelled (19/08). On 20/8 the part is back in stock and more expensive. I do not want to pay more for the same item I had originally ordered a month ago!!! All I want is a direct replacement part for my original faulty goods. Am I asking too much? Retailer Response (01/09/08): My apologies for the above, what you explain IS NOT our practise, we are after all an online company therefore we prefer our customers to use the online system, I have worked in our customer services department and we are trained to talk customers who call and do not know how to use the online RMA (returns page)through so in future they do not have to call us. As for the item going out of stock in this time frame again please except my apologies if we run out of stock an automated email is sent out stright away to customers to warn them. |

Tried ebuyer again after not using them for ages due to payment hassles.. only to find that nothing has changed. My order (for under £50) was being delivered to my registered card address, and had gone through the HSBC card verification process. Yet for some reason, this is not good enough for ebuyer, and I was required to send a copy of my passport's first page, or a copy of my driving licence to some fax number. Which is just not going to happen. In the process of sending this data, how am I to know how many people are going to have access to it? What confirmation am I going to get that this data is going to be destroyed? (apart from some vague promise from ebuyer).
The answer is simple: Avoid the hassle dealing with these bunch of idiots and the risk of having your identity stolen by a bunch of Nigerian scammers. With any luck, with customer service like this, they will go the way of Boo.com etc and evaporate. Retailer Response (29/08/08): We ask for identification in order to confirm that the customer placing the order is in fact the person they claim to be. We require a copy of the picture page of your passport or UK driving license and a recent utility bill to check your address. We check your ID against the latest identity verification services and you can rest assured that none of your personal identification details will be stored or shared by Ebuyer. YOUR DETAILS WILL BE DESTROYED as soon as we have verified your identity. Apologies again if you find this procedure intrusive or if you believe you are being singled out. Regarding you further comment about our customer service staff not that it should matter but our staff are all local, English and work very hard to maintain our high customer service standard. |

(Edited July 21st by Gezza) On the 28th April i purchased a keyboard from ebuyer. However, after taking 7 working days to arrive it turned out to be faulty. It eventually took over 50 emails, 12 telephone calls (for which i was charged), 3 wasted days waiting for the courier ebuyer had apparently arranged to collect the keyboard to come, (they never did - eventually ebuyer told me i had to take it to the courier - yes really) and two and a half months to obtain a refund.
I would not want anyone else to have to go through what i have had to endure with ebuyer - they obviously cant cope with anything more complicated than putting postage stamps on parcels. I will never use this company again and i am busy letting as many people as possible know what a ridiculous bunch of incompetents ebuyer are. After quoting the Distance Selling Regulations and Sales of Goods Act to (more than one of) their staff i was just ignored. Do yourself a favour and never use ebuyer. Retailer Response (06/08/08): I am sorry to hear that you encountered some issues with your order and subsequent return but I understand that there is no city link depot near you and that the parcel needed to be sent by boat to the mainland. My Customer Support Manager informs me that this has now been resolved. However, I would like for you to telephone me so I can discuss this further with you and try and restore your confidence in ebuyer. Please call me direct on 08715285090. Kind Regards Armando Sanchez Operations Director Ebuyer(UK) |
