Strengths: none
Weaknesses: all
Summary: I bought it three years ago and I got the same problem three times. Canon doesn't want to accept it's its fault and is asking me for 200€ to repair it.

Strengths: Swivel/flip LCD, manual controls, accepts add-on lenses, optical viewfinder, produces nice pictures, accepts AA batteries and CompactFlash, PictBridge support
Weaknesses: Relatively small screen, flash takes a while to recharge at times, prominent ISO noise above 200, tends to have blown-out highlights and fringing
Summary: Having previously owned a Powershot A70 and had a good experience with it, I expected as much from the A95. It delivered. I particularly like the ability to select manual exposure, white balance, focus, etc., which you don't see on too many cameras. I have only a few concerns. First of all, there is noticeable fringing in some shots, especially those taken indoors with bright fluorescent lighting. Also, there is prominent ISO noise above 200 (with a range of 50-400). Autofocusing is slower than more modern cameras, but that's to be expected of anything that's seen a few years in production. Overall, I am satisfied with this camera; I just wish it were a bit faster.

Strengths: Good pictures, Easy to use, Lot of options
Weaknesses: a bit bulky, needs four battery.
Summary: This is a great camera. Picture quality is very good. It uses 4 AA batteries for power, so it is a bit heavy. The upside to this is that it has very good battery life.

I would have liked if greater optical zoom is available in this model. Overall, this is one of the best point-and-shoot digital cameras you can buy. I am very satisfied with this purchase.

Strengths: Very crisp clear pictures.
Weaknesses: Slow shutter speed, still has red eyes after set on "no red eye" setting, Heaving because of the 4 AA batteries, night mode is blurry when to much light is going on.
Summary: Over all the A95 is a great camer. Still a few things I need to learn about the camera.

If it was smaller and not as heavy would be more conveniant to take while on walks or someplace you don't want to take a bag in.

Strengths: Many!
Weaknesses: Few.
Summary: 2005-08-20 09:29:17 Extremely happy with this camera. Great photographs, cool features, feels great in the hand, etc. Haven't figured out some of the low light features yet. I love that it has some advanced features to go with it's point and shoot capabilities.

Strengths: great picture quality
Weaknesses: size and weight
Summary: 2005-08-11 20:57:12 This is my third digital camera and the picture quality was excellent. I take pictures and crop them down to post on the internet and these were very clear. But the camera weighs 11.8 ounces and taking it on vacation was a problem. Carrying a wallet, some sunglasses and this camera is a heavy load. The camera is a little too big to fit in a pocket.

I read the manual twice but still found a lot of features I would never use. Perhaps in time I will be inspired to learn new photo skills and use these features.

I liked that it takes AA batteries. I ran out of battery in Bali and was able to solve my problem for $1. It would have ruined my vacation not to be able to shoot any more photos. But again the size- I found myself jealous of all those women slipping their tiny cameras into their pocket.

It is hard for me to rate the A-95. It is the best camera I ever had but the wrong camera for me. I would not buy it again.

Strengths: Nice Pictures
Weaknesses: Canon will not honor warranty, CF cards pins too delicate
Summary: Canon will not honor warranty, CF cards pins too delicate

I bought the A95 4 months ago. This past month, when I was on vacation, I brought the camera into a camera store to download the pictures onto a CD-ROM. The clerk removed and then re-inserted the CF card. Camera stopped working soon after. Returned camera to Canon. They charged me $155 to fix the bent pins where the CF card is inserted. CF card only goes in 1 way, how did they get bent?

I normally use the USB cord to download pictures from the camera.

My first Canon (A70) broke after 18 months. American Express refunded me the money under their extended warranty policy. So I bought the A95. My friend told me he was warned by a store clerk that downloading via USB will wear the camera out. Maybe they are right.

No more Canon's for me.

Strengths: Great camera. Just as good as my Nikon 70 SLR. I like the fact that I can use auto or manual. The A95 has everything needed to take fantastic pictures.
Weaknesses: None
Summary: I am so glad I read Dave's Picks. After reading the reviews I bought the A95. If I had just gone and bought any digital I know I would not have been as happy as I am with this camera. I also purchased a canon ip3000 photo printer. Professional looking photographs. I will check Dave's picks when ever I am buying anything in the future.

Strengths: The camera takes photos w/good clarity, is lightweight and easy to handle. Many features to use (which I have not tried yet). Viewing screen flips out for timed use.
Weaknesses: The camera is a bit slow to focus and definitely too slow in actual shutter action.
Summary: So far, I like this camera. I like that the view screen flips out and look forward to using it in timed photos;my daughter likes seeing herself in the screen when I take a photo of her. I haven't used the movie feature yet. The plastic door for the compact flash has been no problem unlike other reviews I've read. I do wish it had a neck strap w/it, not just a wrist strap as I'm fearful I'll bang it or drop it w/the wrist strap. The photos are easy to transfer to your computer. There are many features which is a plus...since I don't use it everyday however, I must continually refer to the manual to use the features each time.

Strengths: Excellent Pictures, Much better low light pictures than the other $500 digital camera that I have
Weaknesses: None so far
Summary: I would recommend this camera for the price. The software is very easy to use and I like the filing system compared to the Fuji or Kodak software.

Strengths: Great color, ease to use and very solid feeling. Uses CF cards and AA batteries that are available everywhere. Quick start up. Canon reputation.
Weaknesses: 4x or 5x optical would be better.
Summary: I have an older Casio QV3000 and bought my Mom the A95 for Xmas. I used it and was so impressed I bought one for myself.

Strengths: Great picture quality. Easy transfer to my computer or other applications. My first digital and has been so much easier because of the comprehensive manuel included--excellent camera.
Weaknesses: So far-- I have seen no weaknesses. I couldn't be happier.
Summary: I had done much research on digital cameras. Reading reviews on CNET, in PC World Magazine, as well as PC Magazine. This Canon PowerShot

A95 has all you need to get started without being intimidated; but plenty of features that can expand your picture taking abilities as time goes by. I am impressed with the picture quality and the ease of use this camera offers. Even a novice like myself can take fantastic pitures; with minimal starting expertise. It also gives me room to grow as my knowledge of digital photography expands. I highly recommend the A95 to anyone looking for a great camera at a very reasonable investment.

Strengths: Excellent pictures, easy menu, many options, long battery life with rechargeables, folding monitor, and great video.
Weaknesses: weight, no anti-shake system
Summary: I owned a A-80 and was not satisfied with the pictures. One picture would be great and the next would not be acceptable. Canon got it right this time. No bad pictures. Take numerous videos and piece them together with the video software provided. The automatic mode seems flawless. The flash operates sometimes when it is not needed and turning off the flash is as easy as pressing the up arrow and retaking the shot. I purchased a 512mg Lexar 80 speed and the pictures copy imediately, ready for the next shot using the fine mode. I am very satisfied and recommended this camera to anyone.

Strengths: 1st Digital camera and it was a great investment. Pictures look GREAT! Just in time for the holidays. Love the adjustable view finder!
Weaknesses: Nothing really. Just buy a bigger memory card and NIMH batteries. These batteries have lasted me through 100 pictures!!
Summary: Over all this camera is a great investment. You do get a little bit of red eye but you can fix that or just take another picture. I really recommend it!

Strengths: Nice size, Good/great battery life with rechargeables, Great picture quality, Lots or functions/shooting modes, easy to use and well layed out(buttons ect...)
Weaknesses: Really can't think or any at this time and most likely won't.
Summary: Canon is a great company and has always produced great products. This is my first Digital camera and I am very peased with it. The only thing that I have noticed with this camera that is close to a negative ocured with indoor shots. Once when taking pictures in morderate to low light the camera had a dificult time dispalying the picture to be taked on the LCD screen. Once the flash went off, the picture would come out almost perfect but on the darkside. Personally I Think it was just an unusual lighting situation that I was faced with. All in all I lover the camera and I think it takes great pictures.
