Apple iMac (24-inch, 2.8GHz)
THE GOOD: A minor specification update results in some significant performance gains; graphics upgrade an option on this 24-inch model; sleek, polished design didnt receive an update, but we wont start clamoring for a new design until the current one is at least 12 months old. THE BAD: Free phone support runs out after 90 days. THE BOTTOM LINE: A slight bump to the specifications for the same price in addition to a much appreciated option to upgrade the graphics means the 24-inch iMac keeps the Editors Choice it earned last year when the brushed-aluminum-and-glass design was first introduced.

Apple iMac (2008) | 24" display version
On August 7th, 2007 Apple released the second generation of its Apple iMac powered by an Intel processor (aka Aluminum iMac). The most significant changes are to the iMacs aesthetic; Apple has replaced their signature sleek white plastic enclosure in favor of a combination anodized aluminum and glass. The screen area has a black border and is under a pane of glass, with the outer enclosure made of aluminum. Theyve also made the iMac significantly thinner profile (see side-by-side iMac comparison), improved its power, and added some new features including integrated wireless. It comes in a total of four models with either a 20" or 24" screen size and a range of Intel Core 2 Duo processors running at 2.0 GHz to 2.8 GHz. The included Apple Keyboard has been drastically redesigned and is much thinner, made from aluminum, and features a larger "strike area" on each key (16mm vs. 14.5mm). ... PROS: (1) Sleek glass and aluminum aesthetic (2) Very clean aesthetic with very few cables and components (3) Thinner profile than previous generation iMac (4) 24" Model has excellent screen quality. (5) Decent performance from Intel Core 2 Duo CPU ... CONS: (1) Poorer viewing angle than previous generation (2) Not modular: screen and computer components are integrated into one box, making it impossible to upgrade either independently (3) Not the best display quality on the market (4) Glossy screen too much reflective
