I know the real cheap ones won't last because I already have a Toshiba I bought for £79 that broke down. However I didn't want to spend £1000 either. I called in and was recommended to buy a Pioneer player. The guy on the phone explained everything about dvd players, differences and brands. Item delivered next morning. I was truly amazed by the picture quality. Even when I played my Pal movies, I didn't see any picture quality loss from the conversion.
