Strengths: product of windows family
Weaknesses: no
Summary: I am using this for my windows vista, it is really good no compatibility issues while installing since it is a product of windows. I have tried using norton which had compatibility issues, norton support cannot able to provide solution for it

Strengths: Easy to use, efficient, minimal system resource
Weaknesses: Expensive, needs eith windows XP or Vista
Summary: It's a great software compared to other software from Norton, or Mcafee. Installation was easy, and control menus are intuitive. The major strength, however, is that it doesn't use to much computer resource, so you can barely detect its presence as it works in the background. That said, it should have been included with Vista or other MS operating systems, for if you are paying more than $150 for an operating system, it should include all the protection and utilities you absolutely need. I am not sure if this can be used earlier PCs running earlier than XP, at least that is what it says on the cover, so be careful if you have windows 98 or earlier versions before you buy it. Recommended.

1 Star ReviewLive oneCare
Strengths: Almost like other virus and Firewall programs.
Weaknesses: Not for 64bit
Summary: I bought this with Vista 64bit and was surprise to get an error when Live OneCare told me it wasn't for 64bit.

Of all the companies to be behind in Microsoft coming out with 64bit OS and not have their own Software be compatible is just plain stupid.

I was disappointed and have not used the software since then.

1 Star Reviewlive one crap
Strengths: none
Weaknesses: hate everything about it
Summary: Horrible software, it caused more problems than it fixed. I was upset as well that it didn't support 64bit.

Live one care's firewall is really bad, allows microsoft sys files to contact the internet on its own.

Not a great virus program either. I switched to mcafee in 1 week.

Strengths: Made by Microsoft for Windows XP, since all popular subscription antivirus software is now inegrated into the OS, it does not slow the system down like the others. Has EVERYTHING you could need.
Weaknesses: Pricey, so look for sales. No weakness, has everything all the other antivirus' does. Needs Registry Cleaner, but is available online.
Summary: I would recommend, I purchased this as gifts for my friends. They all love it.

This software works best on XP. It's still in beta for Vista, so it's lacking a bit. Would still buy.

Strengths: Easy to install and works quietly without interrupting your other work.
Weaknesses: None so far.
Summary: I highly recommend Windows Live OneCare especially for people like me that are not computer experts. This product installs quickly without any problems. It takes over and does all the protection your computer needs to be free of viruses, spy ware and other problems. I especially like the feature of automatic backup and tuneup of the computer. I do not have to remember to do these tasks to keep good performance of the computer. The software will do it as scheduled by you. This software works in the background without interfering with my regular work. I have used other softwares that made me crazy all the time interfering with my other tasks to the extreme that I had to eliminate it from my computer. I am really happy that I found this product that meets all my computer protection needs. I definitely will continue using it and highly recommend it for others.

Strengths: ease of install and use, great protection performance
Weaknesses: store bought product keys sometimes don't work
Summary: great product.

switched to gen 1 of onecare from a combination of products that tried to do the same thing.

gave norton a few years to solve bugs and performance issues with their products but received no satisfaction.

Switched to onecare and have had zero problems except for a couple of store bought product keys not be accepted by the onecare online registration process.

Strengths: Does not slow system down or "take over" my whole system. Like system backup and optmization also.
Weaknesses: telephone help is almost impossible
Summary: Found this better than symantec and norton. Have not tried the freeware antivirus though.

Does not slow system down or "take over" my whole system. Like system backup and optmization also.

Strengths: isn't resource intensive, easy to install/configure, updates flawlessly, & performs basic routine maintenance backup automatically. can be installed on up to 3 pc's per license.
Weaknesses: microsoft branding makes people wary.
Summary: Last year we outsourced our billing & thus were forced to connect our computers to the internet. Our consultant suggested just getting a basic Macafee/Norton product. He installed Norton Internet Security 2007 on our server. Not wanting to continue paying him to install antivirus on the 4 clients I figured I'd stroll to Staples & see what kind of security suite was on sale or free after rebate. I picked 2 copies of One Care. 1 year ago I thought I may have been being foolish by trying something this new but here we are one year later, and One Care continues to impress me. Here's what is great: it installs easy, and is a snap to setup. Honestly I haven't had to do ANYTHING in the past year after the initial setup. I told it to update itself & to perform defrag etc on it's default schedule. Last month I got an email from MS saying my subscription was going to expire and a could renew for another year for about $40 or so. Instead I just purchased 2 more copies from Staples for free after rebate, logged into my account (from home, not on site), and I was good to go for another year! The Norton Internet Security offers no sort of license update without plopping down $70. I have to uninstall 2007 before I can install the 2008 version (also free after rebate). When I replace my server (or reinstall Windows), I will definitely be using One Care for all my PC's.

3 Star ReviewSolid antivirus product, but no better than others
Strengths: Works as advertised and easy to use, lower drain on system resources than some (like Symantec)
Weaknesses: Odd packaging (honestly confusing to open)
Summary: This is a basic antivirus from Microsoft, and it does just as it advertises. The upside is that it is, in typical Microsoft fashion, quite user friendly. (OK, the Vista team went into the weeds on the easy-to-use front, but most Microsoft products are quite friendly.) Also, it is more friendly toward system resources than some of the competitor products. However, as an antivirus product, it is pretty unexciting. If you need one and can find this with a good rebate, it won't be a bad choice in my option.

1 Star ReviewWindows Live OneCare
Strengths: Easy to Install Microsoft product
Weaknesses: Very slow could not activate
Summary: Good looking package with Microsoft brand name. Takes lot of time to scan. Tried so many times but could not activate. Could not see any pop up window to enter the product key. So removed it finally. Now I am happy.

3 Star ReviewWindows Live OneCare 1.5
Strengths: none
Weaknesses: none
Summary: 2007-07-15 01:27:08 It's a very common product and can act almost like other security and anti-virus softwares. It can be easily install to my PC and run smoothly. But I don't think there's anything special comparing to other similar softwares. Certainly, it can work indeed.

Strengths: Nice attractive packaging, was easy to set up, install and subscribe, low price
Weaknesses: Probably not as good as comparable CA softwares which do the same thing
Summary: The packaging attracted me to purchase the software which was almost free after rebate. Was easy to install and subscribe to the service. No problems so far. Downloaded the latest patches and seems to work without overloading the processor like Norton Anti virus I had earlier. Comes from a reliable company like MS.
